About Twings

My name is Forrest Dombrow. I invented Twings a few years ago, and my son Marcus helped me develop the characters along the way. It’s been a long journey, and we are happy to have finally made our dream to add a bit more fun to the world a reality.

Many moons ago, when I was graduating from college, I wanted to be a toy inventor. I secured an internship at a toy company in New York City. Although certain aspects of the job were cool, mostly it was just a stinky office job—boring, stressful, and demoralizing.

It was at that time I came up with the concept of Worldwide Playground (which is the official name of our company). The premise of Worldwide Playground is based on this quotation:

“The supreme accomplishment is to blur the line between work and play.”

—Arnold J. Toynbee

The daily experience at the office was soul sucking, and while commuting back and forth, I was struck by the “adults” on the trains. They looked like ghosts, as if the fun and play had been drained from their faces by negative work experiences similar to mine.

I swore I would never settle for work that I did not love—that no matter where I was in the world, what I was doing, or how old I was, I’d be looking for the fun and play available in each day.

Twings is the culmination of a twenty-five-year journey from “growing up” and losing my sense of fun to remembering my idealistic urge to make my work and the lives of my customers playful.

Once I committed to truly following my dream to invent fun products for kids, I searched long and hard for the right materials, designs, and partners to make sure all parents who buy Twings, and all children who wear them, find their fun. We could not be more thrilled with the products, and we know you’ll love them too. Once kids put them on, they have so much fun pretending to fly around that it’s hard to get them to take them off.

Lastly, preventing bullying is a cause that is near and dear to my heart. If there is anything worse than a job stealing your soul, it is bullies stealing children’s dreams and imaginations. Everyone should be free to have fun without fear of ridicule.

A portion of every sale is donated to support anti-bullying charities.
